Biography
Professor Ashok Raichur obtained his B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur in 1989. He then completed his M.S. at the University of Kentucky in 1992 followed by Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1996. Following a brief stint as Research Associate at Reno itself, Professor Ashok Raichur joined the Indian Institute of Science in 1997 and is currently Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering. His research interests are in drug delivery, sensors, and nanoparticle synthesis. Professor Raichur now leads a vibrant research group working on the use of polyelectrolytes for preparing nanostructured capsules and their use in biomedical applications, particularly for drug delivery. His work has resulted in more than 100 journal and peer-reviewed conference publications. Further, his research contributions have been recognized in the form of several awards including the Humboldt Fellowship. Professor Raichur holds a visiting professor appointment at the University of Johannesburg
