Mallik Sundaram

Biography

Mallik is Co-founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Mitra Biotech. Passionate about improving cancer treatment, Mitra originally came to life in Mallik’s 800-square foot apartment in Chennai India. The kitchen was the histopathology lab, one bedroom became the cancer biology lab, and the other bedroom became the boardroom. As the company grew, Mitra eventually moved its headquarters to Bengaluru, India, and then to Woburn, MA, while maintaining its research and clinical operations in India. Prior to Mitra, Mallik was a scientific co-founder of Momenta Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: MNTA), founded on the sequencing technology for complex polysaccharides and glycoproteins, and co-developed by Mallik at Dr. Sasisekharan laboratory at MIT. Mallik was instrumental in developing M-Enoxaparin, Momenta’s first Billion-dollar drug, and three other lead drug candidates through various stages of regulatory approval in the U.S. He has been an adjunct faculty in the Department of Bioengineering from 2000 to 2007 and the Department of Chemical Engineering (2007-present) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
