Biography
Marcy Gaston is Assistant Teaching Professor in the Hospitality Management program at MSU where she teaches culinary, nutrition, and hospitality courses while also assisting with program development. Marcy earned a bachelor of arts degree in English Literature from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio before attending culinary school in at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. After moving to Montana from Chicago, she completed a master of science degree in Sustainable Food Systems from Montana State University in addition to completing coursework to become a registered dietitian. Upon completion of her master’s degree, Marcy completed her dietetic internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and became a dietitian. Before moving back to Bozeman, Marcy ran a small business outside of Seattle where she worked as a private chef/caterer and provided nutrition counseling. Over the years, Marcy has worked as a cook, chef, caterer, food writer, cookbook author, recipe developer, and clinical dietitian. In her spare time, you can find Marcy tinkering in her small garden, walking all over town or in the mountains, and spending time with her family.
