Biography
B. Mohan Kumar is a leading researcher in agroforestry. He holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He has also been a post-doctoral fellow at the Utah State University, Logan Utah. Dr. Kumar joined the School as a Professor in 2015, and was named the Dean (Acting) of the School. Before joining the School he worked for three years in the Natural Resource Management Division of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi as the Assistant Director General for Agronomy, Agroforestry and Climate Change. Prior to that he worked for more than thirty five years at the Kerala Agricultural University, where he occupied various positions such as the Associate Dean and Head of the College of Forestry, Professor and Head, Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry and Assistant Professor.
Research Interest
Functional dynamics of tropical agroforestry systems and the effects of forest management practices on ecosystem processes, particularly nutrient cycling, soil fertility, vegetation dynamics, agrobiodiversity and sustainable agroecosystems. He is interested in an integrated research approach to understanding ecosystem processes and solving environmental problems.
