Biography
Dr. Pushpa Kumar Lakshmanan teaches Environmental Law and Policy. He received his LL.B. and LL.M. from Pondicherry University and Ph.D. from University of Delhi, India. As a Fulbright scholar he pursued Post-Doctoral research at Harvard Law School, Harvard University, USA.His research scholarship focuses on legal and policy solutions to biodiversity conservation, global climate change, access and benefit sharing for the utilization of genetic resources and traditional knowledge, regulatory approaches to biotechnology, Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, and Liability and Redress relating to living modified organisms. His other research interests include bio-diplomacy; global legal architecture for climate change and its compliance; and protection of traditional knowledge, intellectual property rights and world trade, international law and human rights with a broad focus on promotion of rule of law, global justice and international peace. He served as a member of editorial board of Delhi Law Review and Journal of Law Teachers of India
Research Interest
International regulation of biotechnology, Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on liability and redress pertaining to living modified organisms and Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
