Dr. R.p.s.baghel

Biography

Dr. Ramesh Pratap Singh Baghel was born on 15th September 1956 at Rampur Baghelan in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. He was awarded Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and Master’s in Animal Nutrition from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur and received University Gold Medals in Bachelors and Post Graduate Degree programmes. He completed his Ph.D. from C.C. Haryana Agri. Univ. Hisar, Haryana in 1987 and was awarded with Dr. S.K.Ranjhan Best Ph.D. Thesis award. Dr. Baghel joined as Assistant Professor, Animal Nutrition in College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur in 5th April 1978. He was appointed as Professor in 2001 and served as Head of the Department, from 15th June 2001 to 15th October 2010 and also continued as I/C Dean, College of Vety. Sci. and A. H., Jabalpur from 23rd January, 2007. He joined as Dean, College of Vety. Sci. and A. H., Jabalpur on 15th September, 2009. Thus, he continued as Dean, College, Dean, Faculty of Vety. Sci. and A. H., and Director Extension Services, NDVSU, Jabalpur up to 22nd February 2014. Again joined as Dean, College of Vety. Sci. and A. H., Jabalpur from 23rd Feb. 2014 and continuing. During the service period, Dr. Baghel has guided 2 Ph.D., 25 M.V.Sc. and 25 M.Phil students as major advisor. He has vast experience of work in the livestock production (dairy, poultry, goat and pig laboratory animals) and extension. He published more than 250 research articles in the Journals of National and International repute. He has published books and bulletins in Hindi as well as English. He has also handled 2 research projects of ICAR as PI and two as Co-PI. He is also the “Fellow” National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, India. As a DIRECTOR, he has organized ICAR SUMMER as well as and WINTER School programmes besides orientation courses of CLFMA. As an Organising Secretary, he has also organized two National Symposium in the College of Vety. Sci. and A.H., Jabalpur. He is life member of eight different national scientific societies.
