Biography
Dr. Maushmi Shailesh Kumar has 11 years of experience in both industry and academically.She has worked as Senior Executive, Process Engineering Lab (Alembic Ltd), Vadodara from August, 2006- June 2009 for the production and method development of Penicillin.She has been working on isolation and characterization of bioactive secondary metabolites from fungal/bacterial and marine invertebrates particularly marine sponges. Bioactive products from these sources have been taken up for evaluation of antimicrobial activity, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity in rat models and cytotoxity. She has guided 20 M.Pharm. students for their research projects. She was awarded and honored for her contributions and she is a member of various scoieties.She authored 21 publictaions in both national and international journals and has written 3 book chapters. Her research interests are Marine Biotechnology, Fermentation and microbial production of secondary metabolites, Downstream processing of bioactives from microbial/natural sources.
