Biography
Dr Paresh Sharma is a Scientist-C in National institute of Animal Biotechnology. Education and Training: Dr. Paresh Sharma received his PhD (2010) in Molecular Parasitology from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, during which time he worked at National Institute of Pathology for his research work. He did his post-doctoral work in Malaria Biology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the National Institute of Health (NIH), USA from 2010-2013. He joined the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology in January 2013. Research experience and contributions: Dr. Sharma’s research experience spans Molecular Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology. His research interest has been focused on understanding mechanisms of pathogenesis behind major diseases using functional genomics and proteomics approaches. His current research encompasses functional genomics of disease pathogenesis and identification of disease resistance markers against intracellular pathogens in livestock. The main aims are to understand the genetic basis of variation in the host’s response to pathogens and study the host pathogen interaction. Identifying the genes involved in immune response/host parasite interaction/disease resistance could lead to development of tools/strategies to reduce and control disease in livestock.
