Biography
Dr. M K Saha has been working as Scientist at the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) in Kolkata since 1989. Dr. Saha did Graduation (1978), Masters (1980) and Ph D (1988) from Kalyani University. He joined NICED in the Division of Immunology and worked till 1992, after which he has been working in the Division of Virology. Additionally, since 2007, working in the newly created Clinical Laboratory for vaccine and drug trial. Currently, Dr. Saha is a member of the Sectional Committee of Immuno-Biological Diagnostic Kits, Bureau of Indian Standards. Govt of India. Dr. Saha is In-charge of the National HIV Reference Laboratory at NICED which is a NABL accredited laboratory and this lab was adjudicated as the best National Reference Lab in the country by CDC-WHO-NACO team evaluation in the year 2008..He is also serving as In-Charge of Regional Reference Lab for Molecular Assay, and Coordinator, NACO-Regional Institute (East) for HIV Sentinel Surveillance. Dr. Saha worked on environmental strains of Vibrio cholerae, hepatitis viruses and HIV. During 2000-01, for 10 months, he worked as JICA Counter-Part Trainee in Molecular Virology in the Division of Virology-2, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Tokyo, Japan. He is the author of about 20 research papers. He is a life member of Indian Public Health Association.
