Research Interest
Dr. Vinod Tiwari, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology at NIPER Ahmedabad, is working in the field of pharmacology & neuroscience from past 12 years. Dr. Tiwari’s research interest is focused on behavioral and molecular neuroscience dedicated to understanding the various neurodegenerative disorders and the signaling pathway involved so that better and safer drug candidates can be developed by targeting the disrupted neuro-machinery. Hispostdoctoral research workat Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA was focused on dissecting the key neuronal circuitries involved in pain relief and drug abuse so that better analgesic drugs which are devoid of drug addiction can be developed. Findings from his postdoctoral research work were published inPNAS (Impact Factor- 9.661), Anesthesiology (Impact Factor- 5.163), PAIN (Impact Factor- 5.213) etc. During his Ph.D at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Tiwari investigated the neuroinflammatory signaling & cell death cascade involved in chronic alcohol induced neuropathy and cognitive deficits. His PhD research work was published in high impact peer reviewed international journals which led him to receive several travel awards for presenting his research work in various international conferences in USA, Canada, France & Italy. Dr. Tiwari contributed immensely in the field of neuroscience with more than38 research publications, 6 review articles and 3 book chapters in peer reviewed international journals including in Nature Neuroscience (Impact Factor- 15.531), The Journal of Clinical Investigation (Impact Factor- 15.39), Neuron (Impact Factor- 15.982), Anesthesiology (Impact Factor- 5.879), International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology (Impact Factor- 4.874) etc. His research work is rapidly being cited (>1235 citations; h–index of 21; cumulative Impact Factor > 200) by researchers all over the world. He is currently working on different collaborative projects at Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Medical School and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at USA. Dr. Tiwari has delivered several invited research talks and presented his research findings in more than 30 national and international scientific meetings. He is serving as editorial and reviewer board member for many leading journals in the field of pain and neuroscience.
