Research Interest
1.Understanding the mechanism of immunopathogenesis in leprosy and Tuberculosis •Studies on host susceptibility and association of gene polymorphism of receptors (TLRs and NOD 2), chemokines(CCL2), NOS 2 genes with tuberculosis and leprosy. •Exploration of plasma soluble receptors (sTLR2) as biomarkers of disease 2. Understanding immunopathogenesis of leprosy reactions • Immune response to various stress proteins of M leprae, nitric oxide metabolism during reactions and their role as immunological markers for reactions 3. Understanding local immunity in leprosy lesions • Local antibody synthesis, cytokine secretion and characterization of lesional cells by immunohistology • Analysis of NOD 2 localized in lesional tissue of leprosy patients. progression(Tuberculosis)
