Biography
Ms. Gitanjali Ghosh is associated with the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam as an Assistant Professor of Law. She is currently engaged in the teaching of International Law and Human Rights Law at both undergraduate and postgradutae levels. Prior to this, she was engaged as a Researcher under the Human Rights Lawyering Project at the Centre for Woman and the Law, NLSIU, Bengaluru. She has completed B.A. LL.B. (Hons) from NEHU, Shillong where she was a Gold Medalist and Recipient of Book Prize and LL.M. in Human Rights Law from NLSIU, Bengaluru wherefrom she is currently pursuing Ph.D as well. She has qualified UGC- NET and was also a holder of UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Her areas of interest include International Law, Human Rights Law, Law relating to women and child, and tribal customary laws. She has several publications in national as well as international journals to her credit and has presented papers at national conferences and seminars. She is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law. She is also a member of the editorial board of National Journal of Comparative Law. She has been appointed to the Centre for Child Rights to work for the strengthening of the Centre. Alongwith the team of Centre for Child Rights, she has successfully organized five capacity buiding programmes for police officers on child related laws; two State Level Workshop on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015; a State Level Consultation on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012; a Regional Workshop on Child Laws for Law Students; and a National Level Conference on Protection of Child Rights in Tea Plantations of India, with 
a particular reference to the implementation of the Plantations Labour Act, 1951. She has also spoken as a resource person at several programmes organized by Centre for Child Rights, NLU, Assam; NIPCCD Regional Centre, Guwahati; Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia; Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur; Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights; and UNICEF. On the administrative front, she is the Convener of Moot Court Committee and a member of the Cultural, Hospitality and Film Activities Committee. An avid mooter, she was adjudged the Best Advocate at the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition (India Round) in 2012. A trained singer, she holds a Visharad in Hindustani Classical Music (Vocals) as well as a Junior Diploma in Rabindra Sangeet. Her other interests include debating, reading, and watching tennis.
