Dr. Kedar Pathak

Associate Professor
Mechanical Engineering
Navrachana University
India

Biography

Dr. Kedar A. Pathak received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Maharaja Sayaji Rao Univeristy of Baroda in 2000. He pursued his Masters in Aerospace Engineering at IIT Mumbai, until January 2003, where he worked on higher-order shock capturing methods, and later he was awarded Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron, Ohio, USA, in 2008. During this period, he worked on developing numerical methods to investigate several of ablation phenomena such as plume dynamics, shielding effect, effect of turbulence, using Godunov's exact solver. After completing his PhD program, he continued to work as a post-doctoral researcher on a project funded through five year NASA grant for over two and a half year, during which he worked on Adjoint-based optimization for unsteady compressible flows, and developed POD reduced order model. In the January of 2016, he joined the Mechanical Engineering department of Navrachana University (SCE), as Associate Professor.

Research Interest

Dr. Kedar A. Pathak research interests are Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Thermo-Fluid Sciences, Adjoint-based Optimization, Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and high-performance computing (HPC). The topics he has been working on over the last few years are development of robust isotropic MHD turbulence model, which can be used in modeling MHD flows for nuclear reactors and POD bases reduced order model. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Computational Physics, AIAA Journal, and the Journal of Applied Surface Science. He has also presented his work at numerous international conferences. More recently, he was awarded the AICTE and GUJCOST grants. The theoretical research, essentially, in the both the projects is the development and implementation of the 3D Navier-Stokes solutions for cooling solar panel and investigating complex ablation plume dynamics, respectively.
