Biography
Dr. Pallavi Ghalsasi joined Navrachana University in 2012 as Assistant Professor. Prior to that, she has worked at Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, as Assistant Professor. She has previously held positions as DST WOS-A scientist (The M.S. University of Baroda) and K.S. Krishnan Research Assosciate (Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai). After completing her doctoral studies, she was a postdoctoral researcher at University of Utah and University of Wyoming, USA for over 3 years.
Research Interest
Dr. Pallavi Ghalsasi research interest on every material changes its behavior as a response to high pressure. With the advances in Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC) technology, today it is possible to mimic extreme high pressures in the laboratory! Application of pressure to a material may change its vibrational (Raman or IR spectroscopy) properties, band gap (UV-visible spectroscopy), structure (X-ray diffraction) and electrical resistance (Resistivity). Dr. Pallavi is presently interested in understanding these aspects in negative thermal expansion materials and organic-inorganic hybrid compounds. She is also involved in research related to in-situ microscopy of crystal growth and new phases of materials under high pressure.
