Biography
r. Rajiv Kumar joined Div. of Biotechnology, NSIT as DST INSPIRE Faculty in June-2015. Before joining NSIT, he was in National Institute of Technology-Rourkela. A PhD from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and visiting scientist at Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR)-Brisbane, Australia, his current research interest is to understand the immune regulation during chronic parasitic infection (Malaria & Leishmaniasis) and primarily focused on addressing the role of regulatory cell surface molecules/receptors and regulatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of these diseases using experimental models as well human patients. He was awarded DST INSPIRE Faculty grant of Rs. 35 Lakhs in 2014 (for 5 years) for his project “Role of Tim-3/Galectin-9 in pathogenesis of Malaria/Leishmaniaâ€. He has made significant contributions to understanding of the pathogenesis of parasitic diseases which is exemplified by his impressive publication. So far he has 20 publications, all in high impact international journals like Nature Medicine, British Journal of Medicine, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Infectious Diseases, PLoS NTD etc with more than 375 citations.
