Biography

Prof. Dr. P. N. Tekwani: is the recipient of Rajarambapu Patil National Award for the Promising Engineering Teacher-2016; ISTE-CVM Award for the Best Engineering College Teacher in Gujarat State-2014; ISTE-L&T National Award-2011 for Guiding Best M.Tech. Thesis in the Electrical & Electronics Engg.; IEI Young Engineer National Award 2010-2011; ISTE-SGSITS National Award-2009 for Research Work done by Young Teacher; INAE Young Engineer National Award-2008; Best Engineer "Mylavaram" Award-2001 for Excellence in Work-ERDA; Ph.D. (Power Electronics), CEDT, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore; “Tag Corporation Medal” Award of IISc for Best Ph.D. Thesis; M.E. Electrical Engineering (Industrial Electronics), M. S. University of Baroda, First Rank; and B.E. Power Electronics, Saurashtra University, University First, Gold Medalist. He has been serving at various faculty positions in Nirma University since 2001. Currently he serves as Head of the Department and Professor of Electrical Engineering; Coordinator of PG Electrical Engg. (Power Electronics, Machines & Drives) Programme of Institute of Technology, Nirma University. He has also served as in-charge Director of Institute of Technology, and in-charge Dean of Faculty of Technology & Engineering of Nirma University during July 2015 to June 2016. He is the author/co-author of more than 75 national/international research publications (with h-index 14, and more than 830 citations) focused on power electronics converters, power supplies, induction motor drives, multi-level inverters, active power filters, and power quality issues. He has won Best Paper Award several times in International and National Conferences. He was instrumental in setting up first professional Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) lab, as per IEC standards, in the state of Gujarat at ERDA, Baroda, India. He successfully completed more than 10 sponsored research projects funded by Government/Industry, at Power Electronics Lab of ERDA. During his service at ERDA he was also section-in-charge of Domestic Appliances and Wiring Accessories Lab and he was an active nominated member of ETD-14 committee of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi. He undertakes industrial consultancy project, and training programmes for industries and educational institutions in the areas of Power Electronics. Dr. Tekwani has presented many research papers in international conferences (and visited countries like Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, etc.) and worked as reviewer of many IEEE International Conferences and served as coordinator for many STTPs and National Conferences funded by government agencies. He has worked as Organizing Secretary and Joint Organizing Secretary for National Conferences at Nirma University. Dr. Tekwani has chaired many paper presentation sessions in national and international conferences and worked as a Member of International Programme Committees.
