Dr. Priyanka Sharma

Biography

Dr Priyanka Sharma is working as a Professor and PG Programme Coordinator of MTech (Computer Science and Engineering) with Computer Science and Engineering Department under Institute of Technology. She has a professional experience of over 18 years, that footholds both Academia and Industry. She is involved in teaching courses at both Under Graduate and Post Graduate Level. She is guiding five PhD students (that includes two students under the Vishveshwarya PhD Scheme). Dr Sharma's main research interest includes Computer Vision and Wireless Multimedia Communication. She is currently working on a two joint project collaboration with Institute for Plasma Research in the area of Pattern Analysis using Deep Learning and Robotics. The project is funded under Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (by Department of Atomic Energy) . She has worked on a Indo-Canadian collaborative research project alongwith Dr Srinivas Sampalli, Professor at Dalhousie University, Canada. The project was funded under Indo-Canadian Shastri Research Grant. She has played an instrumental role in the award of NVIDIA Research Center at Nirma University in 2014. Her research interests is also towards the study and implementation of various solutions for interdisciplinary research areas. She has mentored a project that was awarded with a National Award in CSI Project Competition in 2015 and has also won Best Paper and Best Poster Award at various International Conferences Dr Sharma is the Academic Council Member, a statutory body of Nirma University. She is also member of Advisory Board of Directorate of Research and Innovation at Nirma University and a member of Faculty of Technology and Engineering(FoTE) and Board of Studies (BoS) Member of Institute of technology. She has published 33 papers in International Journal and Conferences and also has three book publications to her credit. She is working as an editor and program committee member for many international Journals and Conferences. Dr Sharma takes pride in coordinating various ICT based developments at Institute of Technology and Nirma University since 2005. She has played a key role in the development of IT Policy of Nirma University. She has conducted various ICT based training programmes at University Level as well as in other Research organizations. Dr Sharma has also received the CCI Technology Award (2015) (State Level) and FICCI Award for Best University in the Use of technology (2015) (National Level), on behalf of Nirma University.
