Prof. Anand Somabhai Patel

Biography

Prof. Anand Patel is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Prof. Patel received his Bachelor of Engineering in Production Engineering degree from Saurashtra University Rajkot and M Tech in Mechanical (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) from Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. He has 16 years of teaching experience and taught course like Engineering Graphics, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, Marketing Management, Material Technology etc. Prof. Anand Patel is the recipient of ISTE - CVM Award for Best Polytechnic Teacher in Gujarat State – 2012 in recognition of outstanding contribution to the academic community and the students; ISTE Calcutta Convention National Award for the Best Paper Presented by Teachers at the Annual Convention of ISTE (Polytechnic) – 2014; Silver Award for Case Study Presentation; B E Production Engineering – Gold Medalist and LENCOPASA Award for First Rank among all branches in B E First Year. He has published fours papers in Journal and books and presented sixteen papers at International and National Conference. He has presented paper at International Conference on Quality at Tokyo, Japan during October 2014. He had designed, coordinated and conducted 3 Days Interactive Orienting Programme on ‘Engineering Graphic – A Language of Engineer’ for aspiring engineering students (std. – XII Pass out students) willing to join Engineering Institute since 2014 (Four Times); coordinated programme on '5S and Kaizen for Process Improvement" for Industry personnel and Academia; designed, coordinated and conducted In-house workshop on ‘How to Teach Engineering Graphics’ for newly joined faculty members. He was Executive Committee Member of Space Society for Mechanical Engineers - SAC, ISRO (2014 - 2016) and is Associate Member of The Institution of Engineers and Life member of Quality Circle Forum of India, Indian Society for Technical Education, Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering and Indian Association of Productivity, Quality & Reliability. He was captain of Nirma University Staff Cricket Team, who won Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Space Tournament in the year 2006 and declared as Best All-rounder and Best Bowler of the tournament.
