Prof. Indu Rao

Biography

Dr Indu Rao is a management professor and researcher, having two doctoral degrees, one from the Faculty of Behavioral, Management and Social Sciences, University of Twente, Netherlands and the other from Faculty of Management Studies, MLSU, India. She is a Post Doctoral Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and has completed her ABD (Management and International Business) from College of Business, Florida International University, USA, MBA, and B.E. (Electrical) degree from National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, India. For the past 19 years, she has been teaching and doing research at universities in India, USA and Europe; at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, FIU, USA; UT, Netherlands; FMS, MLSU in Rajasthan; CEPT University, Ahmedabad; GFSU, Gandhinagar; SCET, Surat and GTU in Gujarat. Prior to joining academics, she worked in multinational firms, Crompton Greaves Ltd, General Electric, NIS Sparta, ADS Communications and Consulting, in Mumbai and Gujarat for seven years. For her pioneering research work in the organization of informal firms of globally successful but the so-called un-organized sector of Indian Diamond Industry, Dr Rao has received awards and recognition from Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India; Dept. of Labor and Employment, Govt of Gujarat; South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sarvajanik Education Society, Surat; Atmiya Group of Institutions, Rajkot. Earlier, she has received the Maharana Fateh Singh and Maharana Raj Singh award for excellence in academics and sports from Maharana Mewar Foundation, Udaipur, besides others. She has presented her research in international conferences, published in international journals and books. Dr Rao has delivered talks at several industry and academic forums. Dr Rao is a Life Member of the AIMS-I (Association of Indian Management Scholars-International); ISTD (Indian Society for Training and Development); ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education), and AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association), Member of AoM (Academy of Management, World and its India Chapter) and AIB (Academy of International Business, World and its India Chapter ). She occupied leadership positions during school and engineering college as a student and was engaged in organizing National and State Level events. She stood 9th in Rajasthan Board Merit List in Class X, and was University Topper in I yr (Science-Maths)Class XII equivalent. She represented Rajasthan State Table Tennis Team in Open National Tournaments for eight years in a row from 1985-1993 and won the state singles titles in all categories of sub-junior, junior and women's section. She received All Round Best Student Award at St Mary's Convent School Udaipur in 1988. She is currently Vice-President, Table Tennis Association of Ahmedabad. Dr rao has conducted leadership training programs for corporate executives from Adani Enterprise, Reliance, and GSPL. Current Activities : Teaching, Research, Consulting, Guiding PhD, MBA and BBA Student Projects at Nirma University; Vice-President, TTAA (Table-Tennis Association of Ahmedabad)
