Biography
Prof. Sharad Panchal is an Associate Professor at Institute of Architecture, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. After his schooling at a remote village, he completed his graduation from M. S. University, Baroda and Post Graduation from School of Planning, CEPT University. He also taught at various architecture colleges in Gujarat for more than 10 years. He has been teaching the Visual Representation skills (AGT), Design Development Studio and Building Construction-Technology course. Through his teaching and research, he has been trying to build up a knowledge base of “The Role of Drawing in making of Architecture”, “structure in Nature”.He also developed the “series of exercises to understand the elements of Architecture and its learning” and “Manual for Design Development Studio”.Apart from teaching, Sharad has been involved in a NGO for skilled carpenters from villages who migrate to city and lose their skill & identity while serving mechanized industries. The NGO helps to give back their dignity by establishing an experimental wood workshop at their hometown.
