Dr. Suman Preet Singh Khanuja

Biography

 Former Director, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP/ CSIR India); Fellow of National Academy of Science, India (FNASc) and National Academy of Agricultural Science (FNAAS). He has been and is advisor to biotech industry in India. Recipient of several awards and distinctions including: VASVIK Award in Bioscience & Technology 2008; Nina Sexena Excellence in Technology Award-2007 of IIT Kharagpur, Best Invention Award of AIIES-2007, Hyderabad; FICCI Award 2004 -05 for Rural Development, Patent Appreciation Award in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of IDMA-2004, AIBA-2000 Award for Agricultural Biotechnology; CSIR Technology Prize -1999 in Biological Sciences and Best Teacher Faculty Award-1995 of IARI, New Delhi. He is presently the President of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Society of India (MAPSI) which he founded in 2006-07. He combines in him as a technologist a rare blend of conventional and modern biology with core expertise in plant genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology and has translated his work of R&D into above 50 international technology and product patents with above 150 peer reviewed research publications to his credit. He recently conceptualized and designed the first of its kind platform named BioPORT being developed as a part of Biotech SEZ in NCR, Delhi as the unique state-of-art R&D outsourcing and training facility to fill the gap between research and industrial needs in biotech sector through Mayar Biotech SEZ as the economic vehicle. Now he is translating his vision of Science Knowledge and Innovation (SKI) for better health, life and societal empowerment through capability transfer and is incubating a novel venture as startup biotech industry “NutraHelix Biotech” in nutraceuticals sector as its Chief Mentor. This is taking shape in business collaboration of renowned petrochemical industrialist Mr Shreenarayan Agrawal as Chief business Operator. This unique combination of science and business has initiated a process of establishing a world class laboratory for Nutraceuticals research and processing technology at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai on an unconventional organizational structure is taking shape in this nutrition sector specific leadership venture
