Biography
Professor Manju Bansal received her PhD from Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1977 under the guidance of Prof G.N.Ramachandran. She subsequently joined the faculty of IISc in 1981 and is currently a Senior Professor holding the Astra Zeneca Chair and J.C.Bose fellowship of DST. She has been the recipient of an INSA Young Scientist Medal, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship of Germany, as well as the Senior Fulbright Fellowship, USA. She is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences India as well as Indian National Science Academy. She was the Founder-Director of the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore and is on the Advisory Board of the Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics and the Protein Data Bank, USA. She has published more than 100 papers in International journals and guided a large number of PhD and MSc student research projects. Her research interests are primarily focused on relating protein and DNA sequence to structure and their function, by developing new concepts and computational algorithms and tools.
