Amber Mcilwain

Biography

Amber McIlwain is an assistant professor and assistant director for the Master of Healthcare Administration program at Pacific University. She also teaches in the Gerontology Graduate Certificate program. Before coming to Pacific, Amber spent two years as faculty in the School of Health Administration at Texas State University. Amber is a member of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and is actively involved with its educational branch, the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE). She serves on a number of GSA and AGHE committees and was recently appointed to GSA’s Social Research, Policy, and Practice Executive Committee. Locally, Amber is excited to begin work with Village without Walls, the first grassroots aging in place Village in Washington County. Amber will receive her PhD in Gerontology from the University of Kentucky in December, and received her MS (2007) and BS (2004) in Geography from Texas State. Her research explores the life course influences on human-environment interactions. Additional research interests include gerontology and healthcare administration pedagogy.
