Biography
"Dr. Mohanmeet Khosla joined the School of Communication Studies (then known as the Dept. of Mass Communication) in December, 1998. She currently holds the designation of a full Professor. A University Merit List holder and a gold medallist in Journalism & Mass Communication, Prof. Khosla has a doctorate in Socio-Psychological aspects of Computer-mediated Communication with particular reference to Internet Addiction. She has published over 15 research papers and book chapters in peer-reviewed/blind refereed indexed journals and conference proceedings. She also has over 30 paper presentations to her credit in various international, national and regional fora on diverse aspects of journalism, media and cultural studies. She has delivered over 40 invited lectures and served as a resource person for workshops on media literacy, communication skills and ICT usage organized by both the public and the private sector. She has coordinated a DST-GOI project on Science for Women under the aegis of CEMCA and has also served as a communication consultant for a World Bank funded IEC project. Prof. Khosla has held additional charges as Director, Public Relations; Editor, PU News; Manager, Publication Bureau; and Co-ordinator, Jyotirgmaya 91.2 MHz, the Community Radio of the University. She has conceptualised, scripted, directed and edited six documentaries on the University. She served on the editorial board of the Panjab University Research Journal of Arts and continues on the Board of Media Mimansa, the research journal of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is also a member of various academic and administrative bodies, both of Panjab University and other Universities of the region. Prior to joining Panjab University, she worked in the Advertising, Public Relations and New Media industry for close to eight years."
Research Interest
"Prof. Khosla’s current research examines the need for New Media literacies in computer mediated communication by the Fifth Estate and by Journalism Schools. She also has a longstanding interest in media ethics and more recently, its transition to digital environments. Further research interests include creative non-fiction, visual communication and film studies. "
