Biography

"Praveen Rishi obtained her Ph.D. (Science), Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh (1989). She was awarded for Y.S. Narayana Rao Oration Award conferred by Indian Council of Medical Research. • Conferred Fellow title, Indian Association of Biomedical Sciences (FABMS). • Conferred Fellow title, Association of Microbiologists of India (FAMI). • Awarded INSA Visiting Fellowship for year 2006-2007. • Awarded DBT Overseas Associateship by Ministry of Science and Technology (Govt. of India) for the year 2002-2003.• Had served as an advisor (reviewer) for TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences) Research Grant Programme for several years. • Member, editorial board of • Academic Editor for PloS ONE. • Editor, Indian Journal of Microbiology • Co-ordinator of e-pathshala programme (for M.Sc course on Microbial Pathogenesis). • Had served as a member of Central Council of Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI). • Had served as an advisor (reviewer) for TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences) Research Grant Programme in Basic Sciences provided by the Swedish Agency for Research Cooperation with developing countries and the Italian Government (for several years). • ISRN Infectious Diseases. • Has been the Associate editor of Gastrointestinal Infection Journal. • Main areas of research interest: Medical Microbiology and immunology in the field of enteric infections (particularly Salmonella infections) and hepatotoxicity with special reference to: Host parasite interactions – Pathogenesis, innate and adaptive immunity. Epidemiological studies: genotyping and phenotyping Metal inducted antibiotic resistance and proteomics. Biotherapeutics – probiotics, phytochemicals, antimicrobial peptides alone or in conjunctions with antibiotics against Salmonella infections and hepatotoxicity. Development of biosensors and development of delivery systems through nanobiotechnology. "
