Biography

Anuraag has an MPH from Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, USA, and has done his Masters from Institute of Rural Management (IRMA), Anand, Gujarat. Anuraag has over ten years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, programme management, programme communication in areas of public health and nutrition, participatory development and local self governance. He is presently a principal investigator for two longitudinal studies on nutrition rehabilitation centers (NRCs) and growth prospects of children after their discharge from these centers in Jharkhand(supported by MCH-STAR, USAID) and Madhya Pradesh ( supported by GoMP). Anuraag also led a multi objective evaluation study in Gujarat that involved assessing the impact of ICDS interventions on the nutritional status of children, a qualitative study on understanding perception of beneficiaries about take home foods and assessing the training needs of frontline ICDS workers on infant young child feeding practices. He had also worked on a landscape study project on improving maternal, neonatal and child Health (MNCH) outcomes funded by Emory Univesrity, USA. In his previous engagements, Anuraag has worked as Regional Coordinator of UNICEF (Uttar Pradesh) in Polio and routine immunization programme and with the Flour Fortification Initiative (FFI), Atlanta in policy research for advocating flour fortification with iron. He has also worked extensively in areas of participatory development, livelihood and local self governance with organizations like Samarthan, DPIP, UNICEF, DANIDA, CARE, and Action-aid. The projects included formation and capacity building of self help groups and community based organizations, strengthening of local self governance units at panchayat level, and designing and development of communication and resource materials. He has also conducted program evaluations for donor agencies like CARE, MP watershed mission, Action Aid and Center for Safe water.
