Biography

Dr. Parthasarathi Ganguly has been working in PHFI since 2008. Apart from teaching and guiding research, he is engaged in policy advocacy to government and designing and conducting in-service trainings. He also shares some administrative responsibilities at the institute. He has a rich work experience in public health for 23 years, including eight years of working with World Health Organization, India country office, looking after immunization and disease surveillance programs. He has also served as faculty in public health in different medical colleges in India and Nepal. After obtaining MBBS degree from University of Calcutta, he did his residency clinical training in pediatrics and completed MD (Community Medicine). Subsequently, he obtained M.Phil. in Hospital & Health Systems Management. He has been awarded a research fellowship in Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK under the PHFI-Wellcome Trust capacity building grant. He has also undergone a number of international training courses, including executive course in “Global Health Diplomacy” from The Graduate Institute, Geneva and leadership program from University of Melbourne. He has been involved in various research projects with international and national funding agencies which include European Union, ICMR, Dept of Biotechnology, MRC (UK), NRDC (USA), NIH (USA). These projects are in collaboration with renowned public health schools, like Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, U.K.; London School of Hygiene & Public Health, UK; Karolinska Institute, Sweden, etc. Through his long career in public health, Dr. Ganguly has worked in the areas of program management, monitoring and evaluation, establishing and running a disease surveillance program, field survey and implementation research, writing a research/grant proposal, developing training modules and conducting trainings for different categories of public health workforce, etc. His current major works are on health systems and environmental health.He has national and international publications, chapters in books/conference proceedings, and working papers to his credit
