Biography
Ms. Nirmala Mishra is working as Program Manager at PHFI for Health System Support Unit. The current profile encompasses building on strategic partnerships at National, State and other associated stakeholders. She is also responsible for conceptualising, mentoring and managing projects under the ambit of HSSU. Presently associated with National Initiative for Allied Health Sciences, a project supported by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI to augment the allied health capacities in India. She was also a part of High Level Expert Group secretariat, set up by the Planning Commission. Prior to joining PHFI, she worked with Futures Group International in a USAID funded position as Sr. Technical Consultant NRHM Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to strengthen the technical capacity of the Division. She is Masters in Social work from Jamia Millia Islamia and also holds a certificate course from UNFA on Adolescent Reproductive & Sexual Health. She has fourteen plus years of experience in executing and managing public health programmes. She designed & implemented “Youth friendly Services†project funded by UNFPA on dual protection of young people against STI/HIV and unwanted pregnancy through Youth Friendly Services. . She worked as technical team member to develop IEC material on ARSH and SRH and was part of technical team to develop training modules on Life skills for Adolescents. She has working experience with both local and international health NGOs, governments, and UN agencies and provided technical support to the various health projects. She consolidated her ability to train frontline, middle level functionaries and future trainers on sexual health and gender issues; she intensified her experience of using and developing IEC materials from booklets over games to training tool kits. She was one of the technical advisors in UN Country Focal points on Health response to HIV/AIDS among Young People at WHO SEARO, New Delhi. She is also a visiting faculty at Haryana Institute for Public Administration.
