Biography
Dr. Reetu Sharma is working as an Assistant Professor with Public Health Foundation of India and based at IIPH Gandhinagar. Trained as a social scientist and social worker, she had been working on public health issues since last 10 years. During these years, she was engaged in work for various national and international agencies e.g. FAO, CARE, Government of India. Her work involved teaching, research, training, programme management and evaluation. She has worked on the issues of children, adolescents, women and elderly. In her PhD, she worked on inter-sectoral (health and ICDS) coordination issues at the community level between community health workers in Rajasthan state of India. She is currently engaged in teaching and research at IIPHG Gujarat. She has various papers published in this area to her credit. In terms of education/professional training, Reetu completed DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford (UK) after completing MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India and Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Delhi, India. Reetu is the steering committee member for Community Health Systems in Health Systems Global Forum. She is on the executive board of Vikalp Sansthan (NGO that works for women empowerment). She is the member of Public Health Association of India and Indian Association of Social Sciences and Health. She has also been serving advisory role in NGOs working on issues of adolescents, gender and health, etc. She has received various awards for academic excellence during Graduation, Masters and MPhil level. She received the Wellcome Trust-PHFI competitive research grant for her DPhil work for the period of 2009-2014.
