Biography
Dr. Ritu Rana is placed at Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) as DST INSPIRE Faculty. At IIPHG she is involved in DST funded INSPIRE Research Project (Gujarat’s 3 tier approach to tackle malnutrition). Before joining IIPHG she worked as Nutrition Consultant at State Nutrition Cell, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat (Gandhinagar). She has received techno-managerial training on NRC, IYCF and National Iron Plus Initiative Program, organized by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India (New Delhi). Dr. Ritu is UGC NET qualified and has a PhD (Nutrition) degree from Department of Foods & Nutrition, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara (Gujarat). She received UGC-RFSMS (Research Fellowship in Science for Meritorious Students) fellowship for her PhD research project on ‘Maternal Thyroid Dysfunction and iodine deficiency, its implications on infant development and impact of Double Fortified Salt (DFS) supplementation’. During her PhD she presented (oral) her research work at 14th International Thyroid Congress, Paris. Dr. Ritu was selected as paper presenter at Symposium-cum-Training Programme for Developing Capacity Building of Young Scientists for Carrying out Basic, Clinical and Operational Research in the field of Nutrition, organized by ICMR (New Delhi). She completed her MSc (Human Nutrition) from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar-Uttarakhand. Dr. Ritu was selected as young researcher for her Masters research work on ‘Iodine retention in cooked cereals and pulse using iodized salt’ at the Nationals of First Student Research Convention: ANVESHAN, organized by Association of Indian Universities. During her Masters she worked as a part time Graduate Research Assistant on All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP)- Nutrition Education/Food Standards and Quality control. During her Bachelor’s program she was awarded University Merit Fellowship & Kelwani Trust Scholarship.
