Biography
Dr Safraj is a public health researcher with masters in dental public health from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and bachelors in dental surgery from Mangalore University. Safraj has over 10 years of experience in health research and his previous work includes “social assessment of the revised national tuberculosis control programmeâ€, “Population registry of Life style diseases in Kerala†and development of a “guide for health professionals when working with ethnic minorities†in the UK. He has experience in designing, monitoring and analyzing large scale epidemiological studies, qualitative studies, public health programmes and clinical trials. At present, Safraj is working on “a cluster randomized trial to evaluate the effects of a simplified Cardiovascular Management programme in China and India†(SIMCARD study) and Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries. He is based at the Centre for Chronic Diseases Control (CCDC).
