Biography

Currently working on the project with MCH-STAR for developing a Management Development Program for the Medical Officers and NRHM program managers based on the Training Needs Assessment conducted and strengthening the Institute of Public Health, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Before doing my post-graduation I have worked in Mumbai as Resident Medical officer in Medicine and Pediatrics Department for around 1 ½ years.Post MD my experience in Public Health is of more than 4 years. I had worked with various International Organizations like UNICEF and PATH in states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra in various capacities. Was involved in planning, Implementation and Monitoring of various programs on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition. I have an experience of working in both rural projects and urban projects. I was master trainer and trainer for various training programs like Integrated Management of Neonate and Childhood illness (IMNCI) for Health workers, Facility based IMNCI (FIMNCI) for Medical Officers, Navjat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) for Medical Officers, Routine Immunization for MO and Health Worker, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Skilled Attendance at Birth (SBA), PPTCT (HIV). In capacity as a nodal officer for one of the district Latur in Maharashtra, I was instrumental in streamlining the government monitoring system in the district; also supported the district in the preparation of District Health Action Plan (DHAP). I was involved in post disaster relief activities during Mumbai deluge in 2005, Bihar floods in Madhubani district in 2007 and Bihar Kosi Floods in 2008 and Swine Flu Pandemic in the Latur district Maharastra. During Floods was involved in the implementation of various interventions like establishing control rooms, medical relief camps, mass measles and routine immunization campaigns, establishing delivering services through maternity huts, screening and establishing nutrition rehabilitation centers (NRCs) for malnourished children in the flood affected areas. During Swine flu Pandemic in Latur was involved in training of all HWs and Medical officers in the district on preventive measures, swine flu treatment protocols and surveillance.
