Biography
Dr S Avinash Rao has been with Department of Radiology at RGCI&RC since 1998 and was always interested in onco-radiology since his postgraduation at AFMC, Pune 1992. He has immense experience of more than 25 years doing all kind of intra and extracavitory guided biopsies and has successfully performed many difficult and challenging biopsies refused elsewhere. He has special interest in breast cancer including screening MR Mammography, MR guided breast biopsy and vacuum assisted breast biopsy (VABB). He performs different kinds of ablative procedures routinely like radiofrequency ablation (RFA) / microwave ablation (MWA) of liver tumor and nerve ablation for pain management. He enthusiastically and actively participates in Tumor Board discussions. He has been actively involved in many ongoing drug trials in the hospital and is Convener of Institutional Ethics Committee. He has been a guide to DNB students in Radiology since 2003.
