Biography

  Prof. Ashok Misra (DIN 00006051) is a B,Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur, Masters in Chemical Engineering from the Tufts University, US, and a PhD in Polymer Science & Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, US. He has also completed the Executive Development Programme and Strategies for Improving Directors’ Effectiveness Programme from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.   Mr. Misra is the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the IIT Council, and Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT-Roorkee. He was the Director at IIT-Bombay from 2000 to 2008. During his tenure, IIT-Bombay transformed into a leading research & development institute. He is currently a NASI Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He was at IIT-Delhi from 1977-2000 and at Monsanto Chemical Co. from 1974-1977. He was the Chairman-India, Intellectual Ventures from 2008-16. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India – having been the NASI President from 2006-08; the Indian National Academy of Engineering; the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers; the Indian Plastics Institute; and the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences. He is the Founder President of the Polymer Processing Academy, as well as of the IIT Alumni Centre, Bangalore. He was a former President of the Society of Polymer Science, India, and the Federation of Asia Polymer Societies.      He has received several awards, including the distinguished alumnus awards from IIT-Kanpur, Tufts University, and the University of Massachusetts. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by IIT-Delhi during its Golden Jubilee in 2011. He has co-authored a book on polymers, been awarded six patents, and has over 175 international publications. He is on the editorial board of several scientific journals.    He is an independent director on the Board of Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd. and Kirloskar Electric Company Ltd. He is a member of the Audit Committee, Sustainability and CSR Committee, and Stakeholders Relationship Committee of Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd. He is also a member of the investment committee for Aditya Birla Private Equity – Sunrise Fund. Gujral Independent Director Mr. Raminder Singh Gujral is a BA (Economics Honours), LLB, MBA (IIM-Ahmedabad) and MA (Fletcher School, US). He retired from the post of Finance Secretary, Government of India, in 2013. Earlier, he had held the posts of Secretary (Revenue), Secretary (Expenditure) and Secretary (Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways). He was the Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Also, he had been the Director General of Foreign Trade, and Chairman of the Board of Governors of National Institute of Financial Management. Having held various posts in the Central Government, he has a vast experience in the functioning of Central Board of Excise & Customs and Central Board of Direct Taxes.   Mr. Gujral is a Director of Adani Power Ltd., as well as a member of its Audit and Nomination & Remuneration committees.   He is on the Reliance Industries board as an independent director and is a member of the company’s Audit Committee. Shumeet Banerji Independent Director Dr. Shumeet Banerji (DIN 02787784) is a BA and an MBA from University of Delhi and PhD from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois. He is the founder of Condorcet, LP – an advisory and investment firm specializing in developing early stage companies.    Dr. Banerji retired from Booz & Company in 2013 after a 20 year stint at the firm and its predecessor Booz, Allen, Hamilton. He was the founding Chief Executive Officer of Booz & Company. In 2007-08 he co-led the conception, design, and execution of the historic deal separating Booz, Allen, Hamilton, selling the government business to the Carlyle Group and spinning off the global strategy consulting division as Booz & Company. He was a member of the faculty at the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business before joining Booz, Allen, Hamilton.   Dr. Banerji currently serves on the Board of Directors of HP Inc. (USA), Innocoll (Ireland), Felix Pharmaceuticals (Ireland) and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (India) and serves as a senior advisor to Proteus Digital Health (USA), Berg Health (USA), Tala Energy (UK) and Absolutdata (USA).    He serves on the Panel of Senior Advisers of Chatham House (The Royal Institute of International Affairs, UK), the Advisory Board of One Mind (USA), and the Advisory Board of the Global Economic Symposium (Germany).
