Biography

  Mr. Ajay Kumar Mathur is holding the position of Chief Executive Officer, International Coal Ventures Limited (ICVL), a Joint Venture Company of SAIL, CIL, RINL, NMDC and NTPC.  Mr. Mathur was instrumental in putting this Joint Venture Company together since its inception in 2007. He prepared the White Paper for consideration of the Government which led to the formation of the JV with the approval of the Cabinet. He heads the office of ICVL and is well known in the coal and the investment banking industry. Mr. Mathur is a post graduate from St. Stephens College and an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. He has been educated and trained in UK.  He is a Corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in UK and a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, UK.  Mr. Mathur has extensive experience in dealing with commercial matters during the course of his career spanning more than 33 years. He has handled major purchases of SAIL viz. imports of coking coal, centralized procurement of Refractories, ferro-alloys etc. He set up the ‘Trading House Division’ in SAIL and has been a Member of the Advanced Licensing Committee of the Office of DGFT. He has been instrumental in fixing the input-output norms for duty free imports of steel making raw materials and consumables against exports of steel. Mr. Mathur has been a part of the Corporate Planning Division of SAIL and was a key member of the team which formulated SAIL’s first Corporate Plan 2005, Corporate Plan 2012 and is currently engaged in preparation of Corporate Plan ‘Lakshya 2025’ of SAIL. He has been actively engaged in the mergers & acquisitions and formation of joint ventures of SAIL. He has been closely associated in evolution of the policy framework for overseas acquisitions in the natural resources space.  Mr. Mathur has widely traveled overseas and has visited a number of different coal basins of the world.  Mr. Mathur was inducted onto S&T’s board in Dec, 2013
