Shri Raman

Biography

 Shri Raman assumed the charge of Director (Technical), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on July 1, 2016. A Mechanical Engineer from BIT, Sindri, he started his career at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a Unit of SAIL in April 1979 as Graduate Engineer. During his tenure at BSL for about three decades, Shri Raman rose up to the position of General Manager. He was the in-charge of Shops & Foundries, Ore Handling Plant, Raw Material Handling Plant, Hot Strip Mill and also functioned as General Manager (Services). He was elevated to the post of Executive Director to head the Centre for Engineering & Technology (CET) of SAIL at Ranchi.  He also held the additional charge of Executive Director, Research & Development Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS) of SAIL In January 2014, he was posted to head the Salem Steel Plant, Salem (Tamil Nadu) - a special steel manufacturing unit of SAIL.   Shri Raman has attended various training programs within and outside the Country.  A widely travelled person and a voracious reader, he has great passion for Indian History, cricket and classical music.
