Biography
Rohit Farmer (RF) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CBBI) in Jacob School of Biotechnology and Bioengineering (JSBB) since 2008. RF has M.Tech. in Bioinformatics and has worked on multidisciplinary projects combining computational structural biology and molecular microbiology experiments during his PhD at the University of Birmingham, UK. RF has published several research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals on a range of topics including: modelling protein-protein interactions involved in antibiotic synthesis pathways, parametrizing forcefields to represent novel molecular species in molecular dynamics simulations, performing virtual screening for lead identification and using machine learning for sequence analysis. RF has experience in working on large collaborative projects that has lead to publications in high impact journals including Nature Chemical Biology and British Journal of Cancer. RF is in CBBI since 2008 including a 3 year study leave to pursue his PhD in the UK and is developing an independent group focusing on computational structure biology and drug discovery.
