Biography
Er. (Mrs.) Blessymole K. Alex, joined the Department of Molecular and Cellular Engineering in January 2009 and is serving in the capacity of Assistant Professor. She has qualified ICAR NET in 2013. She has completed her M. Tech. Degree from SHIATS with 10 C.G.P.A (in 2012) and M. Sc. Biotechnology (in 2004) and M. Phil. Biotechnology (in 2006) with first class from Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu. She is actively taking part in scientific researches and has guided 42 PG students in their dissertation work. One of her research areas of interest is the alternate DNA binding dyes and her study regarding DNA binding property of Holi colours was reported in “Tmes of India.” She has participated in more than 30 seminars/conferences/workshops and has published more than 15 research papers in reputed journals with a cumulative NAAS rating of 42.55. She has published a practical manual for UG and PG programmes in Molecular Cell Biology. She is the Life Member of the Indian Science Congress Association. She is actively involved in the various committees of the School and Institute.
Research Interest
Er. Blessy has expertise in Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering. She has a teaching experience of 9 years and Research Experience of 10 years. She had worked on the genotoxic and cytotoxic effect of indusrial dyes and their biodegradation by cyanobacterial species. Presently she is working on wild and underutilized plants to unravel their hidden potentials.
