Biography
Dr. Verma graduated from Institute or Medical Sciences, BHU Varanasi, and pursued Residency in General Surgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He worked as senior resident, and later as research officer at the Department of Surgery, AIIMS New Delhi, before joining as Assistant Professor in the Department of Endocrine Surgery, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow in 1991. Dr Verma has been actively involved in surgical practice, teaching, training and research in the department since then. He has been interesting in development of diabetic foot care programme in the department, and has been undertaking various research studies in this area, and has conducted training programs and CME’s. Dr Verma is also credited with the efforts towards integrating traditional and Ayurvedic medicinal practices with modern medicine and surgical treatment for the benefit of diabetic patients in general, and diabetic foot problems in particular.
