Biography
Dr. D. Alex Anand joined the Sathyabama university in 2007 as a senior lecturer in the deparmtment of bioinformatics after his PhD from the Department of Microbiology at the Dr. ALM Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Taramani Campus of the University of Madras. He had his basic traning in microbiology (in the faculty of medicine), molecular biology and bioinformatics. His doctoral training enabled him to develop skills in the areas of computational biology. During the past many years, his research has been on Human Genetics, HIV and complex diseases as psoriasis including the effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in disease and its pharmacogenetic implications; the roles of microRNA regulated networks and a systems perspective for understanding development and disease . His work on HIV research includes studies on identification of network motifs in HIV – Human protein interaction networks and their implications in viral replication and disease progression, HIV vaccinology and the role of host factors in HIV progression.
