Biography

Professor. Dr. Uma Rani Purusothaman has nearly 32 years of experience as Professor, Head of Department and Dean in various Management, Arts & Science and Engineering colleges. She has a passion for teaching and research. She has specialized in the area of Finance. She has presented and published more than 100 papers to her credit in numerous national and international conferences, seminars and refereed journals at Malaysia and USA. She has guided 75 M Phil research scholars and a recognized supervisor for Ph.D scholars of Anna University, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, Saveetha University, Dravidian University, Bharathiar University and Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in which 20 Ph.D’s were awarded and 10 Doctoral Research Scholars are in the verge of their PhD completion. She has been a vibrant doctoral research supervisor and thesis examiner for numerous doctoral research theses. She has organized and conducted numerous Faculty Development Programmes, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Student Orientation Programmes, Knowledge Outreach Programmes, Soft Skill Development Programmes, Conferences, Seminars, Workshops etc under her towering leadership. She has conducted research methodology programmes at Saveetha University, Entrepreneurship Development Trust and Thirumurugan College of Arts and Science. She has to her credit 2 Funded projects received from ICSSR and TNSCST for more than 3 lakhsBesides her long academic stint, she has been instrumental in corporate collaborations and recognized by the renowned Infosys Ltd as Anchor for soft skill program for their campus connect and delivered two Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for employees of Integral Coach Factory under the aegis of Indian Railways, Government of India. She has made abroad visits to USA, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Nepal for academic enrichment. She has authored five books on finance and management. She has been endorsed with Outstanding Educator and Scholar Award by the reputed National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in recognizing her academic and research contribution on 6th Teachers’ Day Awards and Celebrations conducted on 5th September ‘2015. Currently she received the coveted Life Time Achievement Award for her astounding services to Academics in upbringing Teaching, Research & Development on women’s day by NFED. She was honoured to be the chief guest and session judge in International conferences in reputed colleges like VIT - Vellore, IBS -Hyderabad and in many more Institutions.
