Biography
Boney holds a Doctorate in Biotechnology from the University of Madras. Boney has a rich experience in field of Plant Molecular Biology and Genetics in Industry and Academia. He has worked on a variety of crops including Rice, Arabidopsis, Tomato and Maize in his research career. He has previously worked as a project leader at Avesthagen in Bangalore and an expert consultant for a biotech startup company in Pretoria, South Africa. He worked as a postdoc in the Molecular Plant Pathogen Interaction Group, Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute, University of Pretoria, South Africa on an EU supported Solanaceous crop for improvement of health-based consumer quality traits and later on a Maize genomics project aimed at breeding resistance against a fungal pathogen in African maize varieties. He has published his work in International peer reviewed journals and has presented at many conferences around the world. He brings to Scigenom expertise in genomics, functional genomics, plant transformation, molecular biology, molecular genetics, and epigenetics. At SciGenom he is involved in managing plant and agricultural genomics projects in addition to leading research and development projects.
