Biography
Prof. Bharat B Gupta is at present a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering of Sharda University. Before joining Sharda University in August 2012, Dr. Gupta had worked for 44 years at Aligarh Muslim University / University of Compiegne France / University of Franche-Comte France. He started his teaching / research career in Feburary 1968 at Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh as Lecturer became Reader in 1980 and Professor in April 1983. For a period of one year in 1980 he went to France as Post Doctoral Fellow with INSERM fellowship from France. Bharat Bhushan Gupta, born on 15 August 1945 in India, received his educations; B.Sc. Engg. Mech. (in 1967 with honours), M.Sc. Engg. Mech. (in 1972 with Honours) from A.M.U. Aligarh, Ph.D. (in 1976, Applied Mechanics) from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India and HDR (in 1989) from University of Paris XII France. Prof. Gupta worked as Visiting Professor at, University of Bath, UK (under a national research project) during 1990 to 1992; University of Calabria, Italy, 1996-1997; University of Malaya, Malaysia, 2009. He was invited: as keynote speaker and chairman of session in many international conferences in the field of water and wastewater treatment. Prof. Gupta teaches: Fluid Mechanics, Mass and Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics and Membrane Technology and its applications to undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students. He guides research work of doctoral students in the field of Membrane Processes and its applications to biomedical, food industry, water and wastewater treatment. He has published more than 145 research papers and has prepared more than 30 international research reports. He has a patent on the application of pulsating flow in membrane processes. He was responsible of many international research collaboration projects, e.g. 2 IFCPAR (Indo-French) projects of 3 years in India with NCL Pune and IIT Kanpur with big findings. He was deputed to Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India by the Ministry of Education, France for 3 years, 2001-2004, worked as Chair Professor and responsible of Indo-French project “IFUWWT” (Indo-French Unit for Water and Waste Technologies) in the Civil Engineering Department of IIT New Delhi, India.
