Dr. Dinesh Kumar

Biography

Dr. Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla in 2003 on ‘Production and applications of a thermostable and alkaline protease of Bacillus sp. APR-4’. He has worked as researcher under UGC and DBT sponsored projects and was also a Trainee in Sub-DIC, Bioinformatics Centre at HPU, Shimla. He has served as Assistant Professor at NC College of Engineering, Panipat, Haryana (2004), Head Lifesciences at SILB, Solan, H.P. (2004-8) and AILS, Mandi, H.P. (2008-10). Dr. Dinesh Kumar Chatanta has joined Shoolini University as Associate Professor in 2011 and presently he is Professor & Head, School of Bioengineering & Food Technology. He has to his credit a DBT sponsored research project on Process optimization for recovery of zein and xanthophylls and its application and stability in food grade products. He has been awarded financial support for infrastructure development for B.Tech & M.Tech. Food Technology programe by MoFPI in 2014. Besides this his proposal for setting up of Food Testing Laboratory at Shoolini University campus has principally been agreed upon by the MoFPI, Govt. of India. He has many time represented Shoolini University at international platform & presented his research work at Ireland, Netherlands and France from 2010-12. He has published more than 30 research articles in Journals of National and International repute. He has also written a text book on ‘Instrumental Methods of Analysis in Biotechnology’ ISBN 978-93-8141-38-0 published by IK international Publishing House Pvt. Ltd. for UG and PG students. Research Interest

His research focuses on characterization and scale up of microbial metabolites and their application in food processing and other industrial applications. Besides this he is also focusing on development of amperometric DNA and immunological biosensors for the diagnosis and identification of pathogens involved in human disease and food contaminations.
