Research Interest
Plant Taxonomy 1. Collection, identification, distribution pattern and ecology of orchids of the North-Western Himalaya (Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand), and adjoining plains of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh 2. Population analysis (density, abundance, frequency, phenology) of orchids 3. Assessment the taxonomic significance of seeds and leaf dermal features (Scanning Electron Microscopy, Light microscopy) 4. Herbarium (BSD, DD, PAN) consultation for general studies and to compare different collected species to authenticate their exact taxonomic identity Applied Botany 1. Development of micropropagation protocols using different explants like immature seeds, leaves, roots etc. 2. Preparation of synthetic seeds as a useful delivery and storage system 3. Hardening of the tissue culture raised seedlings/plantlets and their subsequent transfer to the greenhouse conditions 3 4. Molecular biology (DNA isolation, PCR, molecular characterization of species) RESEARCH TRAININGS DONE 1. Two months research training done in plant molecular biology at North Eastern Hill University, Shillong under IASc-INSA-NASI Summer training fellowship programme. 2. Two weeks research training done in plant taxonomy capacity building at Forest Research Institute (ICFRE), Dehradun 3. One week National workshop cum Seminar on Advances in Electron Microscopy and allied fields at Shoolini University, Solan
