Biography
Professor Santosh C. Panda studied at Ravenshaw College (now, Ravenshaw University), Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and University of Birmingham, U.K.. After completing his Masters at Delhi School of Economics in 1976 and teaching for a few years at Utkal University, he was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. in U.K. He was at University of Birmingham, U.K. from 1981 to 1984 for his Ph.D. and on his return, was appointed Associate Professor at the Delhi School of Economics. During his tenure of 28 years at DSE, Professor Panda has held many responsible positions such as Managing Director of Center for Development Economics (2002-05), Head of the Department of Economics (2005-08), Executive Director of Center for Development Economics (2009-11) and Director, Delhi School of Economics (2011-13). He was invited to deliver plenary talks at the Japanese Economic Policy Association at their annual meeting in Kyoto in 2008 and at BRIC conference held at Hunan University of Commerce in Changsha, China in 2009. He was also invited by Kyriazis Foundation, Greece to deliver a keynote address at University of Volos, Greece. He has held visiting positions at University of California at Riverside and Waseda University, Tokyo. Professor Panda has published his research in top ranking journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Synthese, Mathematical Social Sciences and Social Choice and Welfare. He serves as academic referee for these and other leading economic journals also. He is currently in the Board of Directors of National Housing Bank. In recognition of his contribution, he was honoured with Odisha Platinum Jubilee Award in 2012.
