Research Interest
DNA barcoding is a molecular technique used to identify any species at gene level. India is well known for its own traditional medicine; rely mainly on plants as a main source. Identification and authentication of plants is necessary to evade adulterant or substituent in plant based drugs. My research focuses on collection of medicinal plants, herbarium preparation and sequencing them using chloroplast genome markers (trnH-psbA, matK, rbcL), nuclear gene (ITS2) and bring out barcode database for accurate identification of plants. In addition, trees of Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest (TDEF) are also being studied to understand the phylogeny relationships and ecology of tree species.
