Partho Mukherji

Biography

Prof Partho Mukherji is Associate Professor in English. Having graduated with Honours in English from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, he subsequently obtained a Master’s degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Prof. Mukherji’s book on Riders to the Sea was published in 2007 and it has received wide critical acclaim. The book is used by major English de partments in Colleges affiliated to the Universities of Calcutta, Kalyani and Burdwan. Prof. Mukherji’s introductory exposition to Otto Jesperson’s book on Philology as also his own book on Literary Terms and Theories are awaiting immediate release. He was Head of the English Department from 2006 - 2009. Prof. Mukherji has till date published more books on Elizabethan and Romantic poetry, Victorian and Modern Poetry, Modern Short Stories and Indian Short Stories. His research interests include Shakespearean sonnets and Tragedies, Romantic and Victorian poetry, Modern fiction with reference to James Joyce and Modern Drama.
