Bishnu Panigrahi

Biography

Dr Bishnu Panigrahi is currently working as Senior Vice-President, Medical Operations, Fortis Healthcare Ltd. and leads the Clinical Outcomes team which especially monitors the outcomes for CABG, PTCA and TKR. Under his leadership, the company has rolled out clinical pathways- STEMI and FAST, keeping the international best practices in mind. In addition, he helped in successfully commissioning Fortis flagship hospital –FMRI (Fortis Memorial Research Institute), and enhance focus on clinical excellence. Having more than three decades of rich medical experience, Dr. Panigrahi has helped Fortis to be recognized on the world stage by being an active member of the CAD working group of ICHOM (International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurements), an initiative of Prof Michael Porter from Harvard Business School, Harvard Medical School, Karolinska Institute and Boston Consultancy Group. ICHOM works towards unlocking the potential of value-health care by defining global standard sets of outcome measures that really matter to patients for the most relevant medical conditions and by driving adoption and reporting of these measures worldwide Dr. Panigrahi has been actively involved in three major Indian healthcare startups—Indraprastha Apollo hospitals in 1995, Fortis Mohali in 2001 and Max hospitals in 2004. He has helped build Anaesthesiology and Critical care teams in these three hospitals and was also the Medical Advisor for Max hospitals in Saket, New Delhi. Dr. Panigrahi holds a M.D (Anaesthesiology) from Delhi University and did his post- doctoral training in Cardiac and Neuro-anaesthesiology and Critical Care from Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvanthapuram. He holds an advanced training in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Critical Care in New Zealand.
