Research Interest
An estimated 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to an improved water source. Hundreds of millions drink contaminated water because of unsafe water treatment and distribution systems and unsafe water storage and handling practices. Waterborne diseases account for approximately 4 billion episodes of illness and 1.8 million deaths every year, predominantly among young children. Therefore efforts have to be directed to look for methods/techniques which are easily acceptable and adaptable to communities especially for rural and semi-urban area lacking piped water supply so as to ensure acceptable quality potable water on a sustainable basis at an affordable cost. Keeping technology and affordability in focus, the emphasis of my research work is on Water treatment, Low-cost treatment Technology, Water Quality, Waste management.
